Almost one month ago I took off my hair extensions which I was wearing for one year,  just to try Dr. Bronner’s coconut oil. It sounds as it’s too much, but for me the only thing that helped with hair care during years, was coconut oil. So, I received a coconut oil from Dr Bronner’s, which I heard so many good things about it and I absolutely wanted to see, what this organic coconut oil can do more than others.

About Dr. Bronner’s organic virgin coconut oil

Shortly, Dr. Bronner’s organic virgin coconut oil is expeller-pressed from the fresh, carefully dried whole kernel of the coconut for a greater impact in terms of health benefit and also for a nuttier flavour. They say that the coconut oil made from the coconut kernel with the inside skin left on, it’s higher in antioxidant, minerals and vitamins. Well, now I convinced myself it’s so true.

I want to mention that this coconut oil can be use for both beauty and cooking.

How can you recognise the quality of a coconut oil when using it for beauty?

In my opinion, the easiest way to find out the quality of a coconut oil it’s to try it on your hair. Basically, a coconut oil with medium quality doesn’t do much, but shouldn’t leave your hair greasy after washing it. But if it does, that means it’s the lowest quality (throw it away, as it’s no good for your hair)

If it’s a high quality coconut oil, you’re gonna feel a different smell (coconut fragrance), different texture and also a lot more benefits like nourishing you hair, leaving it shiny and much healthier.

As many as you try, the better you’ll learn the differences.

How do I use Dr. Bronner’s coconut oil and the results?

For hair

I’m using coconut oil as a mask for my hair. I’m applying the coconut oil from roots to ends, massaging very well the scalp. Afterwards I’m brushing the hair with a wide-toothed bamboo comb, to make sure the oil it’s perfectly applied everywhere.

Meanwhile I’m boiling some water, which I’m putting it in to a big bowl. I’m soaking a towel in the boiled water (one that can cover all my hair) and when it’s completely wet, I’m taking out the towel, twisting it and squeezing it till has no water. Afterwards I’m putting in on my hair as a hair towel. And I’m keeping it there till it’s getting cold. I’m repeating this until the water from the bowl it’s getting colder (normally it takes 3 times, depends of the water quantity)

After the whole process, wash your hair as you normally do.

Results I got

Heat helps every kind of oil to interact better with our hair (same as you’re doing keratin treatment) therefore it will increase the benefits of the oil you’re using.

First thing I loved at Dr Bronner’s coconut oil is the moisturising properties I’ve seen, from the first second I applied it. It doesn’t feel like an oil, it feels more like a mask. When I’m applying it, my hair is getting softer, which for me is something new that I haven’t seen in any others coconut oil. (and I did try a lot)

Another benefit I’ve seen is the natural shine left on my hair. I’m using it for almost 1 month, once per week. But every time I’m washing my hair now, without using coconut oil before, I still have this shiny hair. And I’m so happy and grateful about it.

My hair it’s not greasy at all. I have a oily type of hair, which you all know it doesn’t go along very well with oils. And that it’s completely true. When you’re using oils in your greasy hair you don’t use it on the roots because it’s getting worst. Coconut oil it’s super different that the rest and if you have oily hair and a great coconut oil, you can use it on your roots with no fear. You’ll see no difference.

For face

Makeup remover: I usually take my makeup off with cleaners, as I feel it’s the safest thing to do. But when I’m wearing too much makeup, I always use coconut oil, as I need something extra to remove everything that’s in my pores. My face it’s super sensitive and I’m getting irritated from most of the makeup removers.

What made me happy with Dr Bronner’s coconut oil it’s the fact that it’s not getting super solid and I don’t need to melt it a bit to use it. For me it’s a big plus, as I can use it straight away.

Face moisturiser: This is one of the products I use a lot as moisturiser during sleep time. It helps with my blemishes, makes my skin look softer, cleaner and smoother. I’m using it with a Jade roller, in this way I’m making sure that the oil goes deep in to my skin.

Results I got

My skin it’s much more elastic, softer and I’m not confronting anymore with that redness that every sensitive skin has it. Also, applying it as a moisturising helps me a lot with blemishes and balances the sebum. My skin it looks much healthier and fresh.
